Community Guidelines

We exist to connect communities so that children are well cared for, which is why trust and safety are the foundation of everything we do. We’ve established Community Guidelines to help members behave responsibly and respectfully both on and off the app.

To encourage positive child care experiences, our guidelines focus on safety, privacy, authenticity, and respect. Our team is always working to uphold these standards so SitterTree remains a strong, trusted community.

Safety

Put children first

Every interaction on SitterTree should support safe, respectful, and positive child care experiences. Sitters, parents and groups are expected to make decisions with children’s wellbeing in mind, both on and off the platform. That includes maintaining age-appropriate behavior, following household or workplace expectations, and creating environments where children are appropriately cared for and supported.

Speak up

Trust grows through clear communication. If something feels unsafe, inappropriate, or dishonest, we encourage members to report it. Speaking up helps us maintain a stronger, more reliable community for everyone.

Privacy

Communicate through the platform

To keep job opportunities clear and payments protected, all communication must stay in the SitterTree app. The SitterTree platform gives parents, sitters, and groups a shared place to confirm details, ask questions, and keep a record of important conversations.

Communicating in the app also helps protect the community from fraud, making it easier to verify details and identify suspicious activity. Communication taken off the app is a violation of our Terms of Service and may result in account closure.

Protect information

Members are expected to respect all personal and sensitive information. Members should never request, share, or misuse private details outside of what’s necessary to coordinate and provide quality child care. This includes, but is not limited to, contact information, payment details, addresses, and other information about children or families.

Authenticity

Represent yourself accurately

Profiles, experience, qualifications, and references should accurately reflect who you are. Misleading information, impersonation, or false claims impair trust, are a violation of our Terms of Service and may result in account closure.

Set clear expectations

Clear communication helps everyone feel confident before, during, and after a job. Parents and groups should provide accurate job details, expectations, schedules, and household/facility information. Sitters should communicate openly about availability, experience, and comfort level with responsibilities.

Respect

Honor commitments

Families and groups rely on dependable care, and sitters rely on legitimate job opportunities. Once a job is confirmed, members are expected to follow through on their commitment. Be respectful of others’ time, including both start and end time. If plans change, communicate as early as possible to minimize disruption.

Be responsive

Timely communication helps jobs run smoothly. Whether answering questions in chat, responding to job invitations, or updating details, staying responsive shows respect for others’ time and helps build stronger connections within the community.

Lead with kindness

Everyone is human, and sometimes plans change or things don’t go as expected. Try your best, communicate with care, and show grace to one another. A kind word or thoughtful response can make a bigger difference than you know.
