Childcare/Youth Worker — Job Description Schedule: Sunday mornings; occasional special services and events Reports to: Associate Pastor of Family Ministries Position Overview This position requires flexible workers who can provide safe, loving, and dependable care for children and youth in a wide age range (PreK-8th Grade) during Sunday School and worship services. This position helps create a welcoming, peaceful environment so that parents can confidently participate in worship or adult Sunday School classes apart from their children. This position will not require the worker to care for both children and youth at the same time. All children and youth are grouped appropriately according to their age and grade level. Primary Responsibilities - Provide attentive, developmentally appropriate care. - Create a warm, welcoming, and calm atmosphere for children, youth, and families. - Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment. - Follow all church safety and check-in/check-out procedures. - Engage children and youth through play and curriculum. - Communicate with parents in a kind and professional manner. - Follow emergency procedures, including basic first aid if needed. - Work cooperatively with other volunteers and staff. - Arrive on time and stay until all children are safely picked up. Qualifications - Must pass a background check and complete Ministry Safe Child Protection training. - Experience caring for elementary-aged children (professional or volunteer). - Dependable, patient, and compassionate. - Ability to remain calm and attentive in a busy environment. - Strong communication and teamwork skills. - CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain). Physical Requirements - Ability to lift up to 30 pounds. - Ability to sit, stand, bend, and move around the room safely. Compensation: $20/hour
