In BBBS, i was a Big Sister to an 11 year old girl, where we met weekly for 2 school years, and i helped with homework, read together and talked about her. In Caminar Latino I was overseeing a group of kids from 3-12 years old. We completed homework, activities provided by the program, and just spend time together. When I was 4 years old, I declared that I was going to be a teacher when I grew up. So, as I grew, I found every chance to be a ‘teacher’. This looked like volunteering at VBS, being a mother’s helper, and a camp counselor. As I matured, so did my roles. I began nannying and student teaching. Now, I’m in my 8th year teaching with a Master’s degree in special education. I have been in all classrooms, from Kindergarten to 10th grade and I have worked with students of all varying abilities. I love what I do and I’d love the chance to help more children learn and grow!
