What are badges?

Badges help you identify child care providers with the skills, experience, certifications, and commitment to child safety you’re looking for.

Some badges are required, while others highlight additional training or qualifications. Most badges are earned through third-party certifications or trainings that are then uploaded to SitterTree.

Basic Background Check (required)

Child care providers earn this badge by passing an annual third-party background check that includes a social security trace, global watchlist search, sex offender search, and national criminal check for all known aliases.

Identity Verification (required)

Child care providers earn this badge by verifying their identity through photos of their government-issued photo identification and a live selfie.

Premium Background Check

Child care providers earn this badge by passing an annual third-party background check that includes a social security trace, global watchlist search, sex offender search, national criminal check, and county-level checks for all known aliases.

CPR

Child care providers earn this badge by completing a CPR certification course through organizations like the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association. Certification includes pediatric or child/infant CPR. To earn this badge, providers upload their certificate to SitterTree.

First Aid

Child care providers earn this badge by completing a First Aid certification course through organizations like the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association. Certification includes pediatric or child/infant CPR. To earn this badge, providers upload their certificate to SitterTree.

Sexual Abuse Awareness

Child care providers earn this badge by completing a training about recognizing, preventing, and reporting child sexual abuse and uploading their certificate in SitterTree. There are many organizations that provide sexual abuse awareness courses, such as Ministry Safe or Abuse Prevention Systems.

Disability Care

Child care providers earn this badge if they have a degree or certification working with children with disabilities and upload that certificate or degree in SitterTree. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)
  • Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA)
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
  • Special Education Degree
  • Special Education Teaching Certificate
  • Other special needs certifications or degrees

Child Protection Pledge

Child care providers earn this badge by completing the Child Protection Pledge in SitterTree. The pledge is a personal commitment to protect children from mature content on technology and photography.

Super Sitter

Child care providers earn this badge by achieving the following milestones on SitterTree:

  • 4.95 star minimum average rating
  • 30+ total jobs completed, with at least 10 in the last 12 months
  • 50% of users they work for add them as a Favorite
  • 0 blocks in the last 12 months
  • 1 or less last-minute cancellation in the last 6 months
