What happens if my sitter cancels?
While cancellations are uncommon, you’ll be notified immediately if a cancellation occurs so you can take next steps.
If your sitter cancels before the job starts
- You’ll receive a notification based on your settings
- Your job will automatically reopen so other sitters can apply
You can also Search for sitters and invite them to apply. As applicants come in, you can review and book a new sitter.
If your sitter cancels after the start time
You can:
- Repost your job
- Search for sitters and invite them to apply
You may need to adjust the start time to allow for arrival. You can book a sitter up to 30 minutes before a job’s start time and you must provide the sitter at least 30 minutes to get to the job. After booking, use chat to confirm timing.
Payment
If your sitter cancels, you won’t be charged for their wages.
Quality standards
Repeat sitter cancellations violate SitterTree’s Quality Standards, and can limit or permanently restrict a sitter’s access to the platform.
Tips to help avoid cancellations
- Include clear job details
- Book sitters with strong reviews
- Book within 5 days of receiving applicants
- Avoid making major changes to the job after booking
- Confirm details in chat after booking
- Check in again before the job
- Download the SitterTree app and turn on Notifications
