Frequently asked questions about finding a nanny in River Forest
Nanny rates vary based on location, the nanny’s experience, and how many children need care. In most areas, nannies earn between $18–$30 per hour. Full-time, experienced nannies or those providing additional services (like tutoring or transportation) may charge more. On SitterTree, rates, expectations and schedules are set upfront for stress-free negotiations.
It's easy to find a nanny in River Forest on platforms like SitterTree, which require ID verifications and background checks for nannies to stay active on the app. Look for nannies with relevant experience, and strong reviews from other parents. You can also meet candidates through local parenting networks or referrals, but it's important to conduct a reference check and background screening before making a decision.
It depends on your family’s needs. Usually, daycare is more affordable for one child, but you might want to hire a nanny if you have multiple children or need flexible hours. Many parents choose nannies for personal attention, in-home convenience, and consistent care.
Most nannies earn $18–$30 per hour, though rates vary by city, experience, and responsibilities. Specialized care (for newborns, overnights, or travel) often comes with a higher rate. Checking average rates in your area is the best way to stay competitive and fair.
A nanny provides regular, ongoing care—often weekly or full-time—and may help with routines, meals, school pickups, and child development. A babysitter usually provides occasional or short-term care, like date nights or weekends. Both roles are important, but you should make your choice based on the hours and consistency your family needs.
Look for consistency, communication, and great reviews. On SitterTree, every nanny must meet Quality Standards, including a minimum 4.5-star rating, 0 no-shows, and no more than 3 last-minute cancellations. Ratings are generated from real parent reviews, so you can get an accurate sense of each nanny's reliability.
To make safe hiring decisions, review references, run a background check, and schedule an in-person or virtual interview. Ask about certifications like CPR and First Aid and previous experience. On SitterTree, nannies verify their identity and pass a background check, so you can focus on finding the right fit without worrying about what’s behind the profile.
