How can I chat with a sitter?

You can chat with sitters before or after booking to ask questions and share details.

Chat with sitters who applied to your job

To message a sitter before booking, you’ll need Sitter Pass.

  • Go to Jobs > Find your job > View applicants
  • Open the menu next to a sitter > Chat

You must start the conversation first-sitters can’t message you unless you’ve opened a chat. Once started, the chat will remain open until you book or cancel the job, or the start time passes.

Chat with a booked sitter

Once booked, either you or the sitter can start the chat.

  • Go to Jobs > Find your job > Chat

The chat will remain open until the job is canceled, or after payment if there are no other upcoming jobs with that sitter.

Return to chats

Go to Chat to view your inbox, search conversations, or manage messages.

Calling

You can make calls directly through SitterTree. Calls are made through masked calling, so phone numbers are not shared.

  • From an open chat > Select the phone icon

Notifications

You’ll receive notifications for new messages based on your Notification Settings.

Privacy and safety

Keep all communication in the chat and avoid sharing sensitive personal or payment information. You can report messages if needed. Messages may be stored and reviewed as outlined in SitterTree’s Privacy Policy.
